Jebediah Kerman, heartbroken after learning Santa Claus is not real, sets out on a mission to fly from the Kerbal Space Center to the North Pole. The journey is complicated by a challenge that causes parts of his aircraft to randomly explode every five minutes and prompts unpredictable in-flight stunts. Despite multiple aircraft failures and near-death experiences, Jebediah successfully reaches the North Pole and plants a flag, discovering the truth for himself.
Mission Objective
• 00:00:06 Jebediah Kerman's mission is to fly an aircraft from the Kerbal Space Center to the North Pole. The mission is complicated by a challenge that randomly causes parts of his aircraft to explode every five minutes during flight. In addition, every two minutes, unpredictable stunts, chosen by the viewers, must be performed.
First Aircraft Design
• 00:00:37 The first aircraft design chosen is a B2 bomber-like design with a large number of parts. This is intended to allow the aircraft to survive the random explosions. However, the aircraft's instability and control issues make stunts and general flight very difficult, and ultimately lead to its destruction.
Second Aircraft Design
• 00:03:18 The second aircraft design is a smaller, more maneuverable aircraft with a jet engine and numerous thermometers to hopefully mitigate the effects of the random explosions. The modifications lead to a more stable aircraft, improving control and maneuverability, allowing for the successful completion of some stunts.
Third Aircraft Design
• 00:07:18 The third aircraft design focuses on speed, using a high-thrust jet engine and a smaller, streamlined design to reduce air resistance. This design faced multiple challenges including the game crashing and a failure to properly include the planned number of thermometers, but after adjustments, the plane was able to travel at a significantly faster rate.
Successful North Pole Landing
• 00:12:51 After multiple attempts and aircraft redesigns, Jebediah successfully reaches the North Pole and lands, albeit with some damage to the craft. He successfully plants a flag at the North Pole and confirms for himself that Santa Claus is not real. The successful mission demonstrates the power of perseverance and adaptability in the face of difficult challenges.
